Blog Post #4

Knowing where to look to find information is the hardest thing about finding information when doing research on a topic is personally the hardest for me. It gets very challenging when the teacher asks for information from a reliable source and a lot of the websites that I find don’t even have authors. I don't quite fully understand the term "reliable source". I get confused sometimes. What should I look for when I am searching for this “reliable source”? Another thing I find difficult is citing quotes from the source. Do I just write down the name of the author? How do I know when to put in parenthesis and when no to? I get confused with that. I still have a lot of unanswered questions. There are many things that I learned from this class, but still, questions remain unanswered. With such little time, there was hardly much for us to do anything. Having this class for only one hour every week is definitely not enough time for us to get into depth with our class discussions.

If feel that if we had more time in class, we would’ve learned a lot more. Unfortunately that did not happen. In this class I learned that you can’t turn in work from another class. Although it is your paper, it is still considered plagiarism. I also learned that when you still need to cite your own fried if you are going to use something he/she said. I could go on about what I have learned, but you would be reading a list. I really had a good experience in this class. Now I can go out and teach my friends about what I learned in this class.

Blog Post #3

"Since everything is on the Internet I don't need books"... hm.... I disagree with that. I mean yes it is good to have your things with you electronically because you don't have to worry about losing it. However, when it comes to doing homework and such, it may be a good idea to have the hard copy of the text-even though it may be a hassle carrying a heavy book around. With a hard copy, you can pick up from where you left off easily if you used a bookmark.

Today, everything really is on the Internet. Who'd ever thought that we would be able to do so much on the Internet; chat, make phone calls, see people overseas, look for jobs, fill out job applications. It's all just very overwhelming, but sometimes we might want to be careful. People tend to develop lazy habits. They spend more time than they do on anything else. I really think that there should be a balance between both internet and books.

I also believe that some things are easier to learn in books than they are on internet. Take math for example. I personally think that people who struggle in math should practice in books rather than internet. They will have the chance to write the methods and formulas down which is in most cases essential in memorizing and understanding the material. Although the internet is a lot faster than carrying around a heavy book, you never know anything can happen while you’re online- you could possibly wind up losing your search and your work. With a book, the chances are minimal.

Blog Post #2

I think that librarians assist people with finding sources they need for whatever particular assignment or project they are working on. I also think that they keep the library organized. The library is usually clean and kept in order because of the librarians. They make sure it is quite while others are working. When you are not even sure of what kind of source you will need for a certain homework assignment, they will assist you with that also. Without them, people would just go in and do what they please. It would be really awesome if librarians sent books to our houses so that people who live really far from the library can save gas if they drive or money if they take the bus. I could see librarians sending books out to our houses in the future so that we don’t have to go to the library. They could even start their own mailing company and create a system that could keep track of the books that are being checked out. Librarians might even wear high tech glasses. When we ask them a question and just in case they need to look it up, they got it right in before their eyes. Their glasses will be so high tech, that when we do ask the question, their glasses will pick up on our words and look it up right away. There will be less long lines of impatient library customers.  If this really ends up happening in the future, I want to see it.

Question #1 College Study

When I go to college, I hope to study psychology. I want to study psychology because this study is essential to the career that I want to pursue in the future. Everyone has problems and sometimes they may need someone to listen to them and give them advice. Trust me, I know how good it feels to have someone there listening to you getting everything out and giving helpful advice. Keeping things to your self is probably not a very good idea either. Over time, it begins to build up within you and eventually, you will become depressed. Because I enjoy helping others by listening to their stories and giving them positive advice, I think I would enjoy being a psychologist.
I have no doubts at all about going to college. Going to college is something that I have dreamed of my entire life. There is nothing that could ever change my mind about college. Many people don’t realize that with a college degree, there will be plenty of job opportunities presenting themselves to you.
The pre-collegiate program is helping me so much. It gives me a good sense of what college will be like. I also know how good it will look on my resume when I apply to the colleges of my interest. Money is currently a great issue for me and I know that participating in the summer program will help me earn some credits for my freshman year in college. Saving credits means saving money as well. An the last, but not least, this program will help begin a web of support for me and by that I mean I have everything I need to succeed- I know I will because of this program. Because of this program, I set high standards for myself.

Shattered to Pieces(PROLOGUE)

I'm not crazy and this is not my personal experience, but I am a witness and am a part of this trajedy. I wrote this for me and hope to help others in some sense. This is an experience of me putting myself in someone else's shoes. Sometimes people encounter some of the most unbareable experiences and they are afraid to face the darkness chasing them. Even when they sense something is wrong, they follow their hearts and not their common senses. From my prospective, you can only follow your heart in certain case because it will only take you to your desires. Aquireing your desires may not always end so happily. Trust me, you'd be amazed. I hope that you enjoy and understand the moral of my story and please feel free to comment. That's the key to improvement: taking judgements and using them wisely.

LOST(Part2)

Now that mom is gone, Michael is all alone. George blames her for their lost. "If it wasn't for you and that stupid party, she'd be here right now. But thanks to you she is gone and she's never coming back." Michael's world changed completely after her mother's death. She is no longer hanging out with friends and she barely leaves her room. Her aunts uncles came for the funaral, but she didn't say anything to them.
"George you need to find a way to get her out of that room. This is not good- not good at all", Auntie Wilma would say.
"Look Wilma, Michael has a mind of her own. I can't tell her what to do with her life. If she wants to stay in her room locked up forever, then so it be. I'm not gonna be telling her that she needs to come out of her own room."
"Well," she sighed and continued, "if you're not gonna be taking care of her like you should, then we are taking her."
"Fine by me." Gerorge said with a grin on his face. "She doesn't listen to me anyway."

My passion

I envision myself to be successful someday. Everything will fall in place and the pieces will fit together- all perfect. Everything that my mom has worked for to support me, all that my dad expects from me, and all that my god-mother explained to me will not be taken for granted. The opportunity of having free education will not be taken for granted either. I will prove to everyone around the world that anyone is capable of doing anything once they put there mind to it. Right now, my biggest inspirations are  President Obama and Hilary Clinton. Who'd ever thought a black mad and a woman could run in the race to become the next American President? They sure did make history- a moment I will never forget. I believe that everyday we live, we are making and we are part of history simply because of our determination to support each other- not just in our nation, but in others as well.
